Last updated 18 September 2026

Purpose

This Data Retention Policy explains how long HomeCare keeps different categories of records and the criteria used to determine retention periods.

Retention principles

We retain information only for as long as necessary to:

  • Provide services and maintain accurate account history.
  • Resolve disputes, enforce agreements, and investigate incidents.
  • Meet legal, tax, regulatory, and insurance obligations.

When data is no longer required, we delete or anonymise it using appropriate technical and organisational measures.

Typical retention periods

Data category Typical retention period
Active account profile data While the account remains active, plus up to 24 months after closure unless a longer period is required by law
Booking and visit records 7 years from the date of service completion
Payment and invoice references 7 years
Support tickets and correspondence 3 years from ticket closure
Security and audit logs 12 months
Marketing consent records Until consent is withdrawn, plus a reasonable record of withdrawal
Provider verification documents While the provider remains active, plus up to 5 years after offboarding where required for compliance

These periods may be extended where necessary to establish, exercise, or defend legal claims.

Backups

Data removed from live systems may persist in encrypted backups for a limited period before being overwritten according to our backup rotation schedule.

Your choices

You may request account closure or data deletion subject to legal and contractual limits. Some records must be retained even after deletion requests where required for accounting, fraud prevention, or regulatory compliance.
